John has been a sought-after IT consultant by C-level executives for 10+ years, and also well-known for his many roles as interim CIO in the Seattle area. Throughout his career, John has held a variety of titles, ranging from computer programmer to project manager, and VP of IT Strategy to CIO. He has a deep passion for true leadership, and helping companies leverage technology for strategic and innovative advantage.

With his depth of technology leadership experience, John is uniquely positioned to offer what no one else in the industry can: the ability to fully understand the technology leadership needs of companies, and find the talent that meets or even exceeds that need.

John launched his consulting business, GrowthWave, in 2005, a company that focused on providing Interim CIO services, strategic IT consulting, and IT leadership development. He added CIO recruiting in 2012. And in 2016, he launched Gnu Talent, to focus exclusively on technology leadership searches.

Industry thought leader and book author

In 2010, John wrote and published “Haunting the CEO,” a leadership book written in story format. The book has been a top Management & Leadership seller on Amazon, and has been utilized as curricula by MIS and MBA departments at universities nationally.

John has an AAB from Clark State University, and a BS in Computer Management from Franklin University, in Columbus, OH.

Brian is a highly-respected business and technology leader. For 30 years, he served in key IT leadership roles for small, mid-sized, and Fortune 1000 companies, including the permanent and interim roles of CIO, VP of Product Strategy, VP of Applications, and VP of Cloud Operations. His success leading and building IT teams at global giants Microsoft, PayPal, Concur Technologies/SAP, Open Text, LexisNexis, and Vulcan make him uniquely qualitied to lead searches for the most highly skilled IT professionals in the industry today. With equal acumen across business, technology, and operational roles, Brian has an intimate knowledge of the candidate skillset required to be successful IT leader and team builder.

A life value: giving back  

Brian is a devoted philanthropist who understands the vital connection between receiving and giving back. For more than 15 years, he’s served on the Board and as interim CEO for one of the nation’s leading youth development organization, the Boys & Girls Club (of King County). He also served as interim CIO, where he helped lead an effort to engage and impact youth through the Digitizing Youth Development initiative. Brian also serves on the Board of two technology-oriented social impact businesses—Semble and Social Venture Software.

Brian attended the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington, where he earned his MBA, and has a degree in Economics, also from the University of Washington.
